1. You must be medically cleared for exercise
2. Weigh-in and body fat analyzed at registration or within one week (kick-off event is January 13th) while taking a before picture, then again 12 weeks later.
3. Attend either unlimited rides at CycleBar Southwest Plaza, or 3 small group training sessions at JRT Fit (or equivalent with private training), or both
4. Have loads of fun losing that body fat!
While most places that do contests focus on weight loss, we understand that weight is not the primary concern when it comes to what makes people feel great in their own skin, or ultimately what is the healthiest focal point. We also did not want there to be a larger advantage for someone just because of their starting weight. For these reasons we decided to go with an actual body fat loss challenge.
We will measure your weight and body fat percentage (using two methods, averaging the results) to figure out your total Lean Body Mass and Fat Mass. For example, a 300 pound person may have 150 pounds of lean body mass (bones, muscles, water) and 150 pounds of fat mass. If this person loses 40 pounds of fat mass in the 12 weeks, and also loses 10 pounds of lean body mass (50 pounds total), then they would get credit for a 6% drop in fat mass. If they would have kept all of their muscle mass then their drop in fat mass percent based on their body weight would give them a larger 7.692308% drop in fat mass.
Here would be the equations mentioned above:
150/300=0.5... then 110/250=0.44... so 0.5-0.44=0.06 or 6%
150/300=0.5... then 110/260=0.42307692... so 0.5-0.42307692=0.07692308 or 7.692308%
